Is my calendar data used to train AI?

No. Renard's AI reads your calendar in real time to write your insights and your weekly letter, and that data is not used to train external AI models. Everything below is the longer version of that answer, including a section on what we have not published.

A calendar is a strange thing to hand over. It has your work in it, but it also has the appointment you did not tell anyone about, and who you saw on Friday. It is fair to want specifics before you put that anywhere, so this page tries to give them in plain words. The full privacy policy has the formal wording.

The short answers

What Renard collects

Four things: account information, which is your email address and username; the events and schedules you create; the notes and memos you add; and usage data and preferences, meaning how the product is used and the settings you have chosen. Signing in is by email verification code, Google or Apple.

There is no contact import, no location tracking and no address book. Renard knows about your life what you put into it.

Where it lives, and who else touches it

Your data sits on servers provided by Supabase, with technical and organisational measures against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

It is not sold, traded or rented — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. It is shared only with the service providers needed to actually run Renard, and only as far as they need it to do their part: Supabase for storage, Creem as merchant of record for payments, and the AI service providers behind the companion features. Creem handles card details; we do not store them.

That last one is worth being plain about, because "AI" can be made to sound like it happens by magic on your own machine. It does not. Producing your weekly letter means sending the relevant calendar data to an external model as the request runs. What that provider may do with it is the restriction that matters, and the commitment is the one at the top of this page: it is not used to train models.

What the AI sees, and what it writes down

The AI features read your calendar, your values and your conversation history as they run, so that the weekly letter and the replies you get are about your actual life rather than generic advice. That processing happens in real time, and the data is not used to train external AI models.

Renard also keeps a short, readable memory of you — the kind of thing a friend would remember. It is grouped into who you are, your preferences, your habits, the people around you, what you want to do, and patterns it has noticed. Two things about that memory matter:

• You can read every line of it. Settings has a Pal tab that lists all of them by category.
• You can change or delete any of it. Edit a line if it got you wrong, or delete a memory outright, and it stops being part of what Renard knows.

It is worth opening that tab once, early. Seeing exactly what a product has inferred about you is usually more informative than any privacy page, including this one.

Analytics, and what it does not see

Google Analytics is used to understand the site at the level of a site: how many people came, where they came from, which pages they read. It sets first-party cookies. Ad personalisation and cross-device advertising profiles are turned off, and your calendar contents, your notes and your conversations are never sent to it.

One extra thing is recorded once, at signup: which site referred you and the page you first landed on, so we can tell how people find Renard. No IP address, no location.

If you are visiting from the EU, the EEA or the UK, you are asked before any of that runs, and if you decline, no Google script loads at all — not a limited version of it, none of it. The region check uses your browser's own time zone rather than looking up your IP, because looking up your IP to decide whether we may collect data would mean collecting the thing we were asking permission for. Outside those regions nothing is asked and analytics behaves as described above.

Getting your data out, or getting rid of it

You have the right to see the personal information held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to export it in a portable format. Email [email protected] from your account address and say which one you want.

Deleting individual AI memories does not need an email — that is a button in Settings.

What we have not published

Rather than let this page imply more than it should: Renard has not published a data retention schedule, a formal sub-processor list, or a standard data processing agreement. If you need any of those for a review, ask at [email protected] and you will get a straight answer rather than a page of hedging.

One of them is policy rather than oversight. The two AI tiers are called Renard AI and Renard AI Advanced, and which external models sit underneath them changes as better ones appear. The commitment is to what each tier can do and to the handling described above, not to a particular vendor, so the vendor is not something we publish.

Renard is also not built for regulated data. It is a personal calendar and companion. If you are looking for somewhere to keep clinical records, legal case files or anything covered by a compliance regime, it is the wrong tool and we would rather say so here than after you have moved everything in.

Common questions

Is my calendar data used to train AI?

No. It is read in real time to produce your insights and never used to train external models.

Can anyone else see my calendar?

No. There are no team features, no shared availability and no public profiles. A canvas space can be shared with a link, and only if you decide to share it.

What if I stop paying?

You drop back to the free plan and your data stays where it is. Cancelling does not delete anything. See pricing and cancellation.

Do you use my data for advertising?

No. Renard makes money from subscriptions, which is the whole reason it does not need to.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Email [email protected] from your account address and ask for deletion.
